Mission

Embracing elements from service learning and social entrepreneurship, Legacy unites communities through executing award winning events, including charity events, community festivals, and small business / entrepreneurship showcases. Our events have bolstered economic development by raising resources and awareness for local businesses and causes, and inspired Legacy alumni to start companies, lead non-profit organizations, and produce incredible projects around the world.

Vision

Legacy’s vision it to bring the community together through the construction of local events.  We desire to show what can be accomplished when we facilitate engagement among students, families, and business owners who work together on local causes and educate one another. Continued increase of cooperation among these groups enables Legacy to mobilize resources to better address issues of development, and charitable fundraising.

Legacy is currently exploring the possibility of establishing chapters in areas across the state.  We want to expand our ideas of communities supporting local businesses and charities through events as well as providing students with learning opportunities.

Our History

Legacy Event Planners was founded in 2008 by three North Carolina State University students: Jenn Halweil, Joseph Heil and Will McGuire.  With their backgrounds in volunteering for non-profit organizations, they wanted to gain support from students and instill excitement in the community about local and global causes through larger events.

With their desire to make a positive change in their communities while still in school, the foundation of Legacy was soon created.  The mission of Legacy Event Planners is to assist organizations and companies in creating memorable events geared towards bringing the community together. Since 2008, Legacy has been noticed for designing events such as The Triangle’s Entrepreneurship Week, Raleigh’s Live it Up! Festival and the Hillsborough Street Renaissance Festival.

In addition to providing event-planning and business development services to companies, Legacy aims to help undergraduate college students gain professional, hands-on internship experience to prepare them for their careers.  This company was created by students, and knows first hand how providing opportunities to approaching graduates can greatly impact their futures.

Our Logo

Legacy's wonderful new logo was designed by the talented Jenna Galvanek, who won our Logo Design Competition!

Jenna started her creative marketing and design career with a local Raleigh area advertising agency in 2009.  Her marketing passion inspired a portfolio that reflects her understanding of how to bridge a product and its delivery through creative and effective designs. Her experience ranges from creating logos and other corporate marketing material to larger scale projects such as trade-show booths.  She has also been the lead designer with several nationwide companies where her advertisements were featured in the New York Times and other large publications.

As well as an accomplished designer at the advertisement agency, Jenna also designs custom posters and prints to sell on Etsy.  In her shop, Jgaldesigns, she specializes in creating one-of-a-kind vintage wedding posters by taking a photo of a wedding venue and transforming it into an everlasting work of art.

Jenna has a degree in Marketing from Salisbury University in Maryland.  Her hobbies include graphic design, writing, and photography.  She currently lives in Cary with her husband and her boxer puppy Rusty.
